Lock It or Lose It

As thefts from motor vehicles continue to increase in Bedford, Chief John Bryfonski and the Bedford Police Department are reminding residents to secure their vehicles and belongings as part of the “Lock It or Lose It” campaign.

According to Bedford Police, over 90 percent of these thefts occur at residences when vehicle doors are left unlocked.

In order to prevent thefts from motor vehicles, Bedford Police urge citizens to:

  • Always lock their vehicles, even if it is in your driveway
  • Never leave their belongings, especially those of value, in the car or in plain view
  • If the items need to be in the vehicle, secure them in the trunk, locked and out of sight.

Vehicles on the following streets in Bedford have been victims of theft in the past three months:

  • Back River Road
  • South River Road
  • Puritan Drive
  • Brick Mill Road
  • Palomino Lane
  • Beals Road
  • Colby Court
  • Shaw Drive
  • Weymouth Drive
  • Buckingham Way
  • Pinecrest Circle
  • Pinecrest Drive

  • Green Meadow Lane
  • Seton Drive
  • Wallace Lane
  • Carriage Road
  • Twin Brook Lane
  • Bill’s Way
  • Rice Lane

If the public sees anything out of the ordinary or finds that any of their belongings have been stolen from their vehicle, they are encouraged to call the Bedford Police Department at 603-472-5113.
