Chief John Bryfonski reports that the Bedford Police Department has arrested a woman on a charge related to her mother’s death.
KIMBERLY K. HELLER, AGE 54, was arrested and charged with Abuse of a Corpse, a Class B misdemeanor.
On Oct. 24, Bedford Police officers visited Heller’s residence on Ministerial Court in response to a family request for a wellness check for Heller’s mother, who lived with her. No one was home at the time. An initial investigation showed that Heller’s mother had not been seen by other family members for several months.
Bedford Police went to the home on Oct. 25 and were denied entry by HELLER. After further investigation, officers returned to the home later that day and executed a search warrant. Officers discovered Heller’s mother’s body.
Bedford Police later learned that HELLER’s mother died in the days before Memorial Day in May. An autopsy by the State Medical Examiner determined that she died of natural causes.
Following further investigation, Bedford Police arrested HELLER on Nov. 18.
HELLER is expected to be arraigned on Jan. 6, 2022, at 8:15 a.m. in the 9th Circuit Court in Merrimack.
Additionally, Bedford Police have contacted the federal Social Security Administration Office of the Inspector General, and are coordinating with the Inspector General’s investigation as the investigation indicated that HELLER’s mother’s Social Security payments were still being deposited into her bank account in the months following her death.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
