Police Chief John Bryfonski is asking community members to join the Bedford Police Department and BeBOLD as they recognize the national Red Ribbon Week drug-prevention initiative.
National Red Ribbon Week is being recognized this year from Oct. 23-31. Bedford Police are teaming up with BeBOLD — a Bedford-based, non-profit drug awareness, education and prevention coalition — in a local initiative named “Bedford Goes Red.”
The community effort seeks to have residents and businesses use red lights and/or red bows or ribbons on their homes and places of business to encourage community members to stay drug and alcohol free.
“As first responders, we often see the tragic consequences that alcohol and drug misuse has on individuals and entire families,” said Chief Bryfonski. “I hope the community will join us as we line the streets of Bedford with red lights, bows and ribbons to help share this important message.”
Red ribbons and red lights will be available for free at local businesses while supplies last.
Red ribbons will be available at Primary Bank, 207 NH-101 in Bedford (Harvest Market Plaza), or at Cohen Closing and Title, 334 NH-101 in Bedford.
Red light bulbs will be available at Bedford ACE Hardware, 209 NH-101 in Bedford.
Residents and businesses who display red lights or ribbons can take a photo or video of their display and email it to president@beboldbedford.org. BeBOLD will then post the photo or video on social media to help spread the word and get businesses who participate noticed.
