Bedford Police Encourage Residents to Participate in Upcoming Citizens Police Academy

January 27, 2020 by jgprstaff

BEDFORD, N.H. — Chief John J. Bryfonski and the Bedford Police Department are pleased to announce that registration is now open for the Citizens Police Academy.

The 10-week citizens academy is open to all Bedford residents and business owners over the age of 18. The citizens academy provides participants with an in-depth and multifaceted look at the diverse duties that officers carry out on a daily basis.

As part of the academy, attendees will be exposed to virtually every aspect of police work including patrol operations, criminal investigations, forensic and crime scene investigative techniques and more.

“We encourage all residents and business owners interested in learning more about police operations to join us at the Citizens Police Academy,” said Chief Bryfonski. “It’s a great opportunity for our community to learn more about our public safety services while getting to know local law enforcement officers.”

Classes are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 24 and will run weekly on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The academy will run for 10 weeks but residents are only required to attend a minimum of eight weeks.

The academy is free to attend, but space is limited. Applications must be submitted on or before March 13 and are available online or at the Safety Complex, located at 55 Constitution Dr. Applications may be submitted via regular mail, e-mail to dispatch@bedfordnh.org or dropped off at the Bedford Police station.

Questions about the Citizens Police Academy can be directed to Det. Lt. Michael Griswold at 603-472-5113 ext. 338.
