BEDFORD, N.H. – Chief John J. Bryfronski reports that the Bedford Police Department recently charged a man in connection with a convenience store burglary and motor vehicle pursuit.
TRAVIS BRUCE, AGE 38, OF MANCHESTER, was arrested and charged with:
- Burglary
- Disobeying an Officer
- Driving After Revocation/Suspension for DUI
- Resisting Arrest/Detention
- Driving Without Giving Proof
- Reckless Operation
On Thursday, Nov. 28, at about 1:24 a.m., Bedford Police were conducting enhanced burglary patrols in the community as a result of three burglaries at Dunkin’ Donuts stores over the summer when an officer stopped at the Circle K/Dunkin’ Donuts, 8 White Ave. While there, the officer observed a Chevy Blazer parked with its lights off nearby on Bellmore Drive.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as BRUCE through a subsequent investigation, then turned on the lights and drove away from the scene. The officer followed in his cruiser and stopped the vehicle in an attempt to initiate an on-scene investigation. However, BRUCE fled from the stop as the officer approached the vehicle on foot. As he began to flee, the officer was able to note the driver’s physical appearance, which helped in identifying him later.
BRUCE allegedly fled northbound on Route 114 as Bedford Police briefly pursued before abandoning the chase out of a concern for public safety as the SUV approached and entered Manchester.
During a subsequent investigation, police determined that BRUCE had broken into the Circle K via the Dunkin’ Donuts drive-through window and stole items including cigarettes and lottery tickets before exiting the building. Through their investigation, Bedford Police learned that BRUCE — who is known to other police departments in the area — was the suspect in the burglary and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
BRUCE was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 5, by Manchester Police in connection with an unrelated incident.
Following his arrest Thursday in Manchester, BRUCE was arraigned in Hillsborough County Superior Court on the charges from both the Bedford and Manchester Police Departments. He is currently being held at the Valley Street Jail.
The burglaries that occurred over the summer remain under investigation.
