BEDFORD, N.H.– Chief John J. Bryfonski is pleased to announce that the Bedford Police Department officially promoted three officers and welcomed a new officer at a ceremony this week.

On Tuesday, Feb. 20, four officers were sworn into their new ranks surrounded by family, friends, fellow officers and town officials during a ceremony at the police station. The officers were sworn in by Bedford Town Clerk, Lori Radke and by Bedford Police Prosecutor William Thornton.

“I would like to congratulate all of the Bedford Police Officers who received promotions this week, as well as welcome Officer Ssonko to the department,” Chief Bryfonski said. “Each of them are deserving of their new positions and I know they will continue to do a great job serving our residents and community.”

Tony Ssonko, who was born in Uganda and is a Naturalized Citizen residing in Merrimack, N.H., was hired by the department after serving in the United States Marine Corps for 12 years. He’s currently enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve. Officer Ssonko is a certified New Hampshire Police Officer and will begin participating in the Bedford Police Department’s extensive field training program this week.

Amy Champagne was promoted to detective after serving 14 years with the department as a patrol and field training officer (FTO).

Scott Plumer was promoted from lieutenant to the rank of captain. He has been with the Bedford Police Department for 18 years and has served as a FTO, sergeant and administrative lieutenant. In his new role, Captain Plumer will serve as the Patrol Operations Captain.

Daniel A. Douidi was promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief of Police. He has been with the Bedford Police Department since 1991 and has served as a patrol officer, sergeant, lieutenant and captain over the course of his career.
