Bedford Police to Host Citizens Police Academy

BEDFORD, N.H. — Chief John J. Bryfonski is pleased to announce that the Bedford Police Department is now accepting applications for its 2017 Citizens Police Academy.

The academy is designed to provide the citizens of Bedford with a comprehensive perspective of the department’s police services. This program will also provide a more in-depth look into the art and science behind 21st century policing and the challenges law enforcement officers face.

This 10-week program will begin on March 21 with classes held every Tuesday from 6:30-9:30 p.m. in the Bedford Police Department Training Room. Participants are required to attend a minimum of eight of the 10 scheduled classes.

During the academy, participants will be exposed to virtually every aspect of police work, such as criminal investigations — including forensic and crime scene investigative techniques — patrol operations and more.

Graduates of the academy will have a better understanding of the training, legal, physical and technical aspects of public safety services, as well as a greater understanding and awareness of a Bedford police officer’s day to day duties and challenges.

The academy application is open to Bedford residents 18 and older, as well as local Bedford business owners. The academy is free to attend.

Applications are available online or at the Bedford Safety Complex and may be submitted via mail, online, or directly at the station.

For additional information, please contact Detective Lt. Michael Griswold at 603-472-5113 ext. 338.
