Bedford, N.H. Police Investigating 5-Vehicle Crash on Rt. 101
BEDFORD, N.H. — Chief John Bryfonski reports that the Bedford Police Department is investigating a serious, five-vehicle motor vehicle crash that injured four and left the roadway closed during the morning commute on Thursday.
Bedford Police and Fire responded to New Hampshire Rt. 101 near the Hill-Brook Motel at 7:47 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016 after receiving multiple reports of a motor vehicle crash.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a black Jeep was traveling eastbound on Rt. 101 when it crossed the double-yellow line and grazed a parcel truck before striking three other vehicles, all in the westbound lane.
The driver of the parcel truck was not injured, but the drivers of all four other vehicles were injured and transported to the Elliot Hospital in Manchester. One of the drivers of the westbound vehicles sustained serious injuries.
The roadway was closed for approximately 2.5 hours in both directions, reopening at 10:30.
The crash is under investigation by the Bedford Police Department Technical Accident Reconstruction Team. Bedford Police are asking that any witnesses to the collision call 603-472-5113.
